Join us for a day of tropical backcountry fishing in the rainforest rivers and stream of the far north Queensland region .
Strap on your wading boots & set off up stream on one of our many tributarys, amazing scenery and excellent fishing for our northern native fresh water fish species, jungle perch and sooty grunter. Both of these fish can be targeted on lure or fly and are found in dense populations throughout the rivers and creeks in the Cairns and FNQ region.
During the day we'll be mostly fishing top water with small poppers and bug profiles to entice the bite. If you're after the larger sooties they can be caught in the deep with small plastics. All tackle is provided and included on this tour, and you're welcome to bring your own gear as well.
A light lunch is provided, as well as water bottle and hydrolites. We'll bring along a waterproof backpack with neccerery food supplies to keep your energy levels up for a day fishing and hiking the backcountry.
We pick you up from Cairns City early morning and take you out to our selected spot for the day. The location we choose will depend on the weather and river height data, there are unlimited rainforest streams and creeks full of jungle perch and sooty grunter in the region and they are all stunning waterways that carve through the Cairns hinterland.
From our park-up point we set off upstream, You can expect to get up close and personal with the flora and fauna of our secret cairns waterways as we trek upstream. Generally we will hike upto 7km in a day so a moderate level of fitness is required for these expeditions. We spend the day walking and wading in shallow, rocky streams so please bring your wading boots . This is a unique tour option for the Far North Queensland region and a true way to experience fishing with a rainforest mountain backdrop.

Appropriate footware - we highly recommend wading boots for these adventures as we will spend the whole day in the water. We will not be able to take tours without appropriate footwear ie bare-foot. Please bring, at least, decent hiking or running shoes that can get wet for the day.
We will be spending some time in the sun so please bring a hat and buff , wear a longsleeve shirt and polarised sunglasses a must.
If you would like to bring your camera that is fine - we recommend that you take all efforts to waterproof your camera as it has a chance of going in the drink. GoPros are fine.
