Tinaroo

Lake Tinaroo is situated in the Cairns hinterland just over an hours drive form the cbd and is home to some of the biggest barramundi in the country. It is a stocked impoundment and provides a very healthy eco system full of food for the barra. The Lake is stocked annually with fingerlings and they dont stop growing - many world record fish have been caught here. Generally in the warmer months (September through to May) the barra are more active and easier to catch. These fish can be targeted on lure or fly and around the full moon the fish movements are more predictable and easier to target. The tour is designed around dusk or dawn but we also have an overnight option with accommodation included and two sessions on the lake.

The day

Pick up from accommodation 330am dawn/morning session or 2pm afternoon dusk session

1.5 hr drive to Lake Tinaroo

Afternoon/Morning Tea , Drinks , tea/coffee,  water, provided.

All lures and tackle supplied, 10-17lb and 10-20lb outfits spin or casting.

Return/drop off 1000am for morning session or 900pm dusk session.
